Grew up in Spring, Texas, where he attended Klein High School. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Southern Methodist University, graduating with honors. As part of his undergraduate training, he spent time in Oxford, England.
Dr. Sharma attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and received his medical degree in 1996. He completed an internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston. Subsequently, his residency training in Ophthalmology was completed at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
