Dr. Thung was born and raised in Walnut Creek, California. She graduated with Highest Honors from the University of California, Berkeley where she majored in Molecular and Cell Biology and minored in Music. She received her medical degree from UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Thung completed her ophthalmology residency training at the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, followed by a fellowship in Glaucoma at the renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA.
She has been practicing as a comprehensive ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist for over 10 years, both in Houston and Northern California. Dr. Thung is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Board of Ophthalmology, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Texas Ophthalmological Association. She is also a concert violinist and has performed with the Texas Medical Center Orchestra.
